Help us to be there to support mental wellbeing
Mind in Kingston runs a Community Allotment in Tolworth, which offers local people with mental health issues the opportunity to grow fruit and vegetables and learn more about healthy eating.
Gardening and being outdoors are proven to help people with mental health issues and improve mood, lessen anxiety and help people to relax.
The project is open to anyone with a mental health condition or issue, who will benefit from ecotherapy and is interested in learning about growing and tending plants, different varieties of fruit and vegetables and what to do with them.
We will be working with Public Health Kingston to provide Cook and Eat sessions and information about nutrition and healthy eating.
The project will start late July/ early August.
We are currently recruiting volunteers to provide gentle support to service users and help us to maintain the allotment. We are particularly looking for volunteers who know about growing fruit and vegetables, general gardening maintenance and who are willing to teach other people gardening skills in a supportive, gentle manner. If you have a few hours a week to spare and want to join this exciting project, please contact us on the details below.
If you would like to take part and do some relaxing gardening on our allotment, please contact the office and you will be added to our waiting list. We will be running regular sessions with support from volunteers.
