The borough of Kingston upon Thames has one of the largest Korean populations outside of Korea. Mind in Kingston is delighted to work with people from the Korean community to help improve understanding of mental wellbeing and reduce barriers to accessing support. We are working with Korean people to become ambassadors, and provide support, advice and information to other people in the Korean community about mental wellbeing and mental health services. This project is supported by local Korean support groups and organisations, and by a Steering Group of Korean stakeholders.
In January 2022, we will be joined by two new Korean members of staff, an Outreach Worker and an Administrator, who will support the project.
We are also in the process of developing a counselling service for Korean people, which will launch in the new year.
