Advice and Information Telephone Line Volunteer

Join our friendly Advice Line Team to be the first point of contact for people with mental health issues, their family and friends and professionals in our local community in Kingston. Offering empathetic listening, your role will be to provide information, advice and signposting about a wide range of mental health services and support.

This role would be particularly suitable for people with counselling or therapeutic skills or in the process of gaining a counselling or therapy qualification. However, you will be given a full induction, training, supervision and support and have the opportunity to learn new skills while making a meaningful contribution to the local community and Mind in Kingston’s work.

Alfriston Outreach Service Volunteers (May 2023)

Alfriston Outreach Volunteering Opportunities

Alfriston Outreach Service is a one-stop shop for supporting older and vulnerable people in the Royal Borough of Kingston. Alfriston provides a number of services in the community that can be delivered to people’s homes to help reduce isolation and loneliness and ensure that no one is forgotten or left behind. 

We are currently looking for 2 volunteers:

Alfriston Outreach Service Shopping Volunteer

Alfriston Outreach Service is looking for a volunteer who is caring, motivated, and eager to help others to support our shopping service. We shop at a supermarket and deliver groceries to people who are unable to leave their homes. Volunteers should hold a full UK driving licence. We are particularly interested in hearing from volunteers with their own car but this is not compulsory.

  • Weekly Hours: approx. 9am-12pm, 1-2 days a week
  • Expenses: expenses are compensated where applicable such as travel
  • Commitment: at least 3 months
  • Responsible to: Alfriston Outreach Manager

Alfriston Outreach Service Support Volunteer

Alfriston Outreach Service is looking for a volunteer who is caring, motivated, and eager to help others to support our day-to-day work. This could range from helping out at the centre, being a part of our services in the community, or helping vulnerable service users with last-minute and household tasks. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with DIY skills, but this is not compulsory.

  • Weekly Hours: daytime hours, 1-2 days a week
  • Expenses: expenses are compensated where applicable such as travel
  • Commitment: at least 3 months
  • Responsible to: Alfriston Outreach Manager

Social Media Volunteer Korean Speaker / 한국어 사용가능하신분 원합니다!    멕파이 프로젝트 미디아팀에서  (May 2023)

The Magpie Project provides mental health information, advice, support and counselling to local Korean individuals and communities in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. Our team has bilingual (Korean and English) staff and volunteers who support people to feel more confident to use local mental health services and supporting organisations.

We are looking for a volunteer to help carry out Social media activities on our Magpie Project channels 

 

Social Media Volunteer Korean Speaker

  • Weekly Hours: 1-2 hours a week
  • Expenses: expenses are compensated where applicable such as travel
  • Commitment: at least 3 months
  • Responsible to: Magpie Project Outreach Coordinator and Communications Officer

Kingstonian Mind United FC Volunteer (May 2023)

Kingstonian Mind United FC aims to remove the barriers to physical activity that those of us with mental health problems can face through football. We encourage participants to come as they are, however that might be, to meet others in an informal setting to chat and discuss any personal struggles we might be facing, using football as a medium for community and exercise. Members of the football team train weekly and regularly compete in local tournaments.

Empowering Minds Forum Volunteer (May 2023)

We are looking for organised, enthusiastic and pro-active people to support the launch and delivery of our new Empowering Minds Forum (EMF). The aim of this EMF is to give individuals with experience of statutory and voluntary mental health services a voice and the opportunity to influence future service development. 

Do you have any experience of using mental health services and a desire to work together to improve them?

Join our Mind in Kingston Empowering Minds Forum Volunteers team to help make group decisions on the development and direction of the forum as well as undertake actions to make this happen.

Allotment Lead Volunteer (May 2023)

We know that being in nature is good for our mental wellbeing, and growing your own vegetables, fruits and flowers has a lot of benefits for our health. If you enjoy gardening and wish to share your skills, why not join our allotment team as Lead Volunteer. As well as supporting volunteers on our Community Allotment, this role will ensure that people with mental health issues in our community can improve their mental wellbeing, connect with others and learn gardening skills.

Fundraising Volunteers (May 2023)

We have a new, exciting strategy for our fundraising. We want to increase our income from donations and funding, and let people in and around Kingston upon Thames know about Mind in Kingston and the work we do as a local charity. 

Do you have any experience of fundraising?

Are you good at ‘rallying the troops’ and getting people on board? Are you good at organising events?

Then this is the role for you! We are looking for people who can help us realise our fundraising strategy, help promote our charity to potential funders and support us with events. This is an unpaid volunteering role; reasonable expenses will be paid.
